AND THAT'S A WRAP!

It's been an amazing, action packed year, and the FoGS Team are looking forward to a little rest over the summer.  This year, we targeted ourselves to raise £15,000 to go towards new outdoor activities and play equipment for both Sketty Road and Kimberley Gardens - scroll to the bottom of the newsletter to find out how we did! 😉

These are all the events we have provided for the George Spicer Community this year:

  • Year group Discos

  • Quiz & Curry Night

  • Winter Wonderland

  • Non-Uniform Days

  • Coffee Mornings

  • Pre-Loved Uniform Sales

  • The Easter Hunt

  • The Summer Fun Day

  • Supported at the new Reception stay and plays

The Summer Fun Day last weekend was a huge success, and we hope that everyone that attended really enjoyed the day! Special thanks to Mr Spong and Mrs Bugliari for being great sports and partaking in our new 'Splat The Teacher' game - it was a real hit with the Children, and raised £200!  Wow!

A lot of effort goes into these events behind the scenes, and there is a core team of just a handful of parents and teachers that make up the official FoGS committee (with the unofficial Foglet helpers of course!).  The whole of last weekend (Friday after school, Saturday morning and all day Sunday) were spent setting up and cleaning up (not to mention the weeks of preparing to arrange the rides, activities, food, drink, organise prizes for the Tombola and Raffle, make sure we have first aid cover, enough cakes for the cake stall, parent/carers to help run the various activities etc)

The list is huge, and we really do appreciate every single person that donates items, gives up their time, and supports what we do...

Did you know?

  • FoGS is a registered charity
  • We are all unpaid volunteers
  • We are independent of the school
  • All profits go towards equipment / resources for the Children of George Spicer

We need to increase our volunteer numbers next year, as it's not sustainable to provide all the events (especially the big ones!) with our current small team.  You can invest as much or as little time as you like, but we urgently need more support (many hands make light work as they say!)

If you are interested, or would like to discuss what role you could play or how best to be involved, please speak to a member of the FoGS Team, or send us an email.

Our Goal for 2024/25

Our target or the academic year 2024/25 was to raise £15,000... We smashed it, and have raised a grand total of £16,400!

Wishing you all a wonderful, fun filled Summer, and we look forward to seeing you in September.
